Former Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn has been dismissed from his role as host of the “Nine 2 Noon” program on Milwaukee’s sports-talk station WRNW-FM (97.3), commonly referred to as The Game. Kuhn, who was a fan favorite during his stint with the team from 2007 to 2015, shared the news of his altered job situation through a series of posts on X Monday afternoon.

“Today I was informed that I am being let go from @TheGameMKE and @iHeartMedia,” Kuhn shared less than two hours after his morning show from 9 a.m. to noon aired on The Game. “I want to express my gratitude to Jeff Tyler and Tim Scott for allowing me the opportunity to develop as an on-air personality. I will always appreciate your faith in me.…

“I’ve been released before (five times, actually) and some of my best work has followed those releases. Similar to the Packers during their bye week, it’s a period for introspection and self-evaluation, and I WILL come out stronger on the other side. A final thank you to all of you!” Kuhn began hosting “Nine 2 Noon With John Kuhn” in May 2020, during the initial phase of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Prior to joining The Game, Kuhn had provided digital and broadcast reports for the Packers and during Green Bay games on WTMJ-AM (620). WTMJ-AM had been the Packers’ game broadcast station from 1922 until 2021, before WRNW acquired the rights starting in the 2022 season.

Kuhn remains listed as the sideline reporter for Packers games on the team’s website, with broadcasters employed by the team. News of Kuhn’s departure arises amid reports of job cuts nationwide at iHeartMedia, the radio conglomerate that owns WRNW.

RadioInsight.com reported Monday that these “significant layoffs,” stemming from a corporate restructuring, might be the largest since 2000 at the media giant. In addition to WRNW, iHeartMedia owns Milwaukee stations WISN-AM (1130), WRIT-FM (95.7), WMIL-FM (106.1), WKKV-FM (100.7), and WOKY-AM (920).
