Josh Reynolds Reunites With His Past: Will Teaming Up With Aaron Glenn Change the Jets’ Fate?.D

Josh Reynolds Signs with the Jets: A Fresh Start with a Familiar Face

Reuniting in New York
Josh Reynolds, the former Detroit Lions wide receiver, has officially signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets. In doing so, he reunites with former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who is entering his first season as the Jets’ head coach. The deal is reportedly worth up to $5 million, with $2.75 million guaranteed and additional performance-based incentives.

A Connection to Jets Leadership
Reynolds also has ties to new Jets general manager Darren Mougey. Before taking the GM role in New York, Mougey spent two years as the Denver Broncos’ assistant general manager—a team Reynolds briefly played for in 2024. Though his time in Denver was short-lived, the familiarity with key figures in the Jets’ organization may help Reynolds adjust quickly to his new environment.

A Challenging 2024 Season
The 2024 season was far from smooth for Reynolds. After signing a two-year deal with Denver, he struggled with a finger injury that limited his production. His year took an even more dramatic turn when he suffered a gunshot wound in a mid-season incident. Eventually, he was waived by the Broncos and picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars in early December. Across nine games, he managed just 13 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown—a far cry from his previous production.

Lions WR Josh Reynolds: Re-signing with Detroit 'an easy decision'

A Productive Stint in Detroit
Reynolds first arrived in Detroit in 2021 after being waived by the Tennessee Titans. Over the next three seasons, he became a reliable target in the Lions’ offense, recording 97 receptions for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns. However, his tenure ended on a sour note when he had two costly drops in Detroit’s NFC Championship loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite his contributions, those mistakes overshadowed his otherwise solid performance with the team.

A Well-Traveled Career
Since being drafted in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, Reynolds has played for five teams—the Rams, Titans, Lions, Broncos, and Jaguars—before signing with the Jets. Over his seven-year career, he has accumulated 233 catches for 3,127 yards and 20 touchdowns.

A Chance to Reignite His Career
Now with the Jets, Reynolds has an opportunity to revive his career in an offense looking for reliable veteran playmakers. If he can stay healthy and recapture the form he displayed in Detroit, he could become a valuable asset for Aaron Glenn’s team. With the right system and a fresh start, Reynolds might just prove that he still has plenty left in the tank.
