BREAKING: Calais Campbell Surprises Miami Dolphins Commitment, But Will Still Listen If Candidates Call Because Dolphins Pay Too Low. nhathung

MIAMI GARDENS — Defensive tackle Calais Campbell remains committed to aiding the Miami Dolphins in their quest for the playoffs. However, if they fall short, he might consider joining a playoff-bound team.

At 38, Campbell continues to play impressively, attracting interest during the trade deadline. Out of respect for his professionalism, the Dolphins involved him in these discussions before opting to keep him and pursue a postseason spot. With the Dolphins now standing at 6-8 and their playoff hopes dwindling, there’s renewed talk about potentially releasing Campbell in the coming weeks to offer him a chance to compete for a championship ring.

“It’s definitely something to ponder,” Campbell remarked. “But ultimately, I need to focus on the present and appreciate the moment. The fact that we still have a slim chance provides some comfort.” Although his Arizona Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl during his rookie year in 2008, they lost to Pittsburgh, and he hasn’t returned since.

Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill isn’t ready, as it turns out, to transition to coaching. Campbell wouldn’t be surprised if contending teams express interest again. “I’m not sure if those conversations will occur, but based on past experiences, there’s likely interest,” he said. Campbell played high school football in Colorado but attended the University of Miami, making his signing with the Dolphins a homecoming.

He noted, “This team has the potential to perform much better than we have been,” reiterating his dedication to the organization. “I joined the Dolphins with a year-long commitment to compete and strive for the playoffs,” he stated. Campbell has recorded 43 tackles, four sacks, and 10 tackles for loss this season.

Despite receiving accolades for his performance, Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, is often his harshest critic. “I definitely believe I can perform better,” he expressed. “I feel like I’ve missed several tackles, yet I’m still in a position to make significant plays. It’s different when you’re accustomed to making game-changing plays.”

Campbell hasn’t decided whether to return for an 18th NFL season next year. “It’s humbling when you can’t perform at the same level you once did,” he said. If there is an 18th season, would it be with the Dolphins? “If the time comes and I choose to play football again, this is definitely a place I enjoy playing,” he concluded.
