The Miami Dolphins’ recent roster update verifies the condition of a crucial defensive player. hh

It seems the Miami Dolphins are set to miss a crucial player in their secondary for a minimum of four weeks. On Wednesday, Miami declared that cornerback Cam Smith was placed on injured reserve. In response, the team elevated tackle Jackson Carman from the practice squad to the active roster, while cornerback Jason Maitre joined the practice squad.

Dolphins sign top pick Cam Smith, finalizing 2023 Draft class

Smith sustained a shoulder injury during the Dolphins’ 30-17 defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Unfortunately, Smith wasn’t the only cornerback injured in that game; Kader Kohou also suffered a lower back injury and must demonstrate his recovery in practice this week.

Smith has been stepping in for starting cornerback Kendall Fuller, who has missed the last three games after suffering a concussion during the Dolphins’ 23-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football last month, marking his second concussion of the season.

Now, even if Fuller returns this week, one of their primary bench options is sidelined until nearly the end of the season. Consequently, Storm Duck is expected to see more playing time moving forward. Siran Neal could also play a larger role if Kohou cannot perform or is restricted on Sunday.
