Packers’ head coach Matt LaFleur delivers straightforward message to team following difficult defeat by Lions. hh

The Green Bay Packers suffered a crushing defeat against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. The Lions achieved a milestone by securing their 11th consecutive victory, largely due to Dan Campbell’s bold coaching style.

With a 34-31 triumph over Green Bay in Week 14, Detroit advanced to a 12-1 record this season. The Packers’ disheartening loss to their NFC North adversaries prompted a candid reaction from Matt LaFleur.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky on X, Green Bay’s head coach stated that the team would need to “earn the right to potentially come back here.” Despite the obvious setback, LaFleur commented, “I do think we have a good football team.” The 9-4 Packers indeed boast a solid team. However, Detroit has proven to be slightly superior.

The Lions are now 2-0 against Green Bay this year, having won the Week 9 matchup in Green Bay, 24-14. Alongside several daring fourth-down decisions, Detroit commanded the first half while Jordan Love experienced the roughest start of his career.

Love completed only 3 of 7 passes for 31 yards without a score at halftime, with the Lions leading 17-7. The fifth-year quarterback found his rhythm in the second half, ending the night with 206 yards and a touchdown. However, it was running back Josh Jacobs who spearheaded the Packers’ offense, scoring three rushing touchdowns.

Despite Jacobs’ contributions, Green Bay couldn’t overcome Detroit’s strength. Lions’ receiver Tim Patrick scored his first touchdown in three years, giving the team the lead in the third quarter. He enjoyed his end zone visit so much that he scored again in the fourth quarter, securing a 31-28 advantage for Detroit.
