On Wednesday, former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond visited the Green Bay Packers as part of a pre-draft trip. The following day, the anticipated Day 2 draft pick turned himself in to authorities on an outstanding sexual assault warrant in Frisco, Texas.
This warrant was not disclosed before his meeting with the Packers. Bond, originally from Georgia, made a transfer from Alabama to the University of Texas in Austin during the 2024 off-season. As per his social media updates this off-season, he has been preparing for the combine at the Sports Academy located in Thousand Oaks, California.
Currently, details regarding the age of this warrant or the timing of the alleged incident in north Texas remain unclear. Bond posted bail soon after surrendering and issued a statement through NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport: Concerning the accusations against me, I ask for the chance to defend myself and demonstrate that the allegations are utterly false.
I am fully cooperating with law enforcement and am committed to active participation in the ongoing investigation. Regrettably, such allegations can be damaging to everyone involved without a thorough examination. I respectfully request that everyone withhold judgment until authorities complete their investigation based on facts and evidence.
The NFL’s existing combine policy prohibits players with sexual assault convictions from participating, though a warrant does not equate to a conviction. If there was a warrant at the time when the NFL sent out invites, a background check would have flagged this information to the league. In Indianapolis this year, Bond clocked the second-fastest 40-yard dash with a time of 4.29 seconds.
He is expected to appear at the Atlanta Falcons’ local pro day on Friday. Prior to his Green Bay visit, he had already met with the Cleveland Browns. Bond still has upcoming appointments with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans as the draft approaches.
