Kevin O’Connell sends bold statement about J.J. McCarthy that will rile up Vikings’ fans ahead of the NFL Draft..anhtruc.

The Minnesota Vikings have opened up their offseason activities on Monday and we got to hear from head coach Kevin O’Connell about the state of the franchise. It’s also three days before the NFL Draft, but the tone of this presser was about the 2025 season rather than Thursday’s draft.

J.J. McCarthy is healthy heading into OTAs

O’Connell was asked a lot of questions about J.J. McCarthy, but it was his injury status that ended up giving us the biggest indicator about where he’s at. Có thể là hình ảnh về 3 người, mọi người đang chơi bóng bầu dục và văn bản

“We talked about, JJ, a little bit, but, you know, I’d consider him full really, no limitations.”

We’ve been given a lot of indications that McCarthy will be healthy this offseason, including O’Connell’s comments at the Owner’s Meetings at the end of March. It’s great to hear, which is a good thing when it comes to his growth over the course of the entire offseason.

“I think the big thing is he’s done a phenomenal job,” O’Connell said about McCarthy. “You know what I would really call that kind of invisible. Invisible habits, invisible work that he’s done when really nobody’s been watching, in many ways, solidifying and finalizing his rehab then on into a phase where he’s really been able to push it on the field from a throws and working his technique and fundamentals. And then ultimately, the mental side of it as well. He’s always working. And now he gets the ability to learn everything from day one, as we go through our installations multiple times this spring and just the different checkpoints.

“I think the spring is set up perfectly for for JJ with where he’s at, from a standpoint of phase one, really, being in a classroom setting, running and lifting and continuing, of what he’s been able to do. Well, a lot of his teammates haven’t been here. Now, the group comes back. He continues that, and then eventually gets on the field, and we can start throwing and catching a little bit before finalizing those two, three weeks of OTAs in mini camp, where you get a little dabble of that competitive feel, running the huddle, running the show. So all that is going to be kind of systematically planned out for him, and I think he’s ready to attack it.”

There have been a lot of discussions about Aaron Rodgers, but they are going forward with McCarthy and it’s the bet the Vikings are making moving forward.

Right now, it’s going to be fun to watch things progress with McCarthy.
