Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly recently named Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa as one of the top candidates to be moved before this year’s trade deadline. Despite a sluggish start to the 2025 season and lingering injury concerns, Kelly pointed out that Correa batted .310 with a 4.3 WAR in just 86 games last year — elite numbers for any position.

“That’s superstar-level production,” Kelly noted, adding that Correa, still only 30, could be a valuable asset for any contender in need of a shortstop or even a third baseman, thanks to his extensive playoff experience.

If the Twins decide to deal Correa, one of the most intriguing landing spots could be the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta is in urgent need of a spark to turn their season around. The team has underperformed early on and won’t likely recover without making a bold roster move.

Shortstop Orlando Arcia continues to be a weak link in the lineup. He posted a lackluster .218/.271/.354 slash line with a 72 OPS+ last season and has been even worse at the plate this year. Although the Braves have top prospect Nacho Alvarez Jr. in the pipeline, he doesn’t appear ready to step into a full-time role just yet.

This opens the door for a blockbuster deal — and Correa could be the perfect fit. While he’s off to a slow start in 2025, he was one of the most productive hitters in baseball last year with a .905 OPS. A fresh environment might help him rebound, and there’s even a possibility Atlanta could convince Minnesota to cover part of Correa’s salary in a potential trade.
