BREAKING NEWS: Former Chief Benched By New Team After Meltdown in Week 14.

Former Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney’s first major opportunity with his new team went as poorly as possible, potentially ending his NFL career before his rookie deal is even finished.

The 2021 first-round pick played two snaps for the Browns on Sunday, creating unprecedented disaster on each play. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Toney might have just displayed the worst performance by any player on any team this year.

After flaming out with Kansas City this season, Toney’s reclamation efforts have not been successful.

Somehow, some way, Toney committed a taunting penalty after declaring a fair catch. To follow that up, he muffed a punt deep in his own territory to seal the game.

The Browns had no chance to win regardless, getting thoroughly outclassed by their division rivals, but Toney put the icing on the cake. His pathetic performance and lack of focus could spell the end of his NFL career, especially following his repeated efforts to get off the practice squad.

Toney has all of the talent in the world, though his mental acumen has appropriately been called into question. If you can’t focus on a simple punt return in one of your lone snaps, how can any franchise trust you?

Despite still holding the Super Bowl record for the longest punt return in history, Toney has proven to be a question mark at best. Brett Veach and Andy Reid were right to cut him this year, as sad as that is to say.

Unfortunately, it looks like one of the most talented players in the league can’t get out of his own way.
