The Dallas Cowboys unexpectedly concluded the 2025 NFL draft without selecting any wide receivers, despite having nine opportunities. This marks the first time since 2019 that they did not choose a receiver.

The team currently lacks a reliable receiving option besides CeeDee Lamb, their top target, who accumulated 1,194 receiving yards over 15 games in the 2024 season. However, no other player surpassed 610 receiving yards. Although the Cowboys didn’t bolster the receiving corps during this year’s draft, they are reportedly still considering enhancing it.

According to Nick Harris from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys are “growing interested” in reuniting with former Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper. It’s uncertain if Cooper would be open to returning to Dallas, but should he be willing, the Cowboys might look to him as a veteran presence to strengthen their receiving lineup.

Cooper previously played three and a half seasons with Dallas from 2018 to 2021, after being traded from the Raiders midway through the ’18 season, and remained with the team until 2021 before being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2022. In 2024, Cooper struggled with a wrist injury, limiting him to 547 receiving yards, yet he has maintained productivity in recent years.

Prior to the ’24 season, Cooper achieved over 1,000 receiving yards in five of the preceding six years. If he bounces back from his recent downturn and the Cowboys secure his signature, the five-time Pro Bowler could significantly enhance the Cowboys’ aerial offense next season.
