The Outfielder’s 2025 season somehow keeps getting worse. After struggling badly at the plate, he suffered a right knee strain that put him on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 17. He’s currently on a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, but even that has hit a snag. He exited Sunday’s game — his fourth appearance and third start in center field — after six innings due to a hamstring issue, according to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia. He’s set to be reevaluated in Philadelphia on Monday.
He began the year as the Phillies’ everyday center fielder, but he’s done little to hold onto the role. The fifth-year pro is batting just .095 and is in the middle of a brutal 0-for-31 slump. While he’s been solid defensively, it doesn’t make up for his complete lack of production at the plate. Last season, Marsh hit .249 with 16 home runs and 60 RBIs, but he mainly found success against right-handed pitching.
Manager Rob Thomson had hoped to give him more chances against lefties this year, but Brandon Marsh only managed 16 plate appearances against them before his injury.
Meanwhile, Johan Rojas is making the most of his chance, starting the last 10 games and hitting .310 (9-for-29) with six runs scored and five RBIs. If Rojas keeps performing, Marsh could find himself pushed into a bench role once healthy. He’ll need to hope his latest setback doesn’t delay his return any further.
