Nick Krygios recently claimed in an interview that his tennis IQ is higher than Novak DjokovicRafael NadalRoger Federer, and Andy Murray. During the discussion, he built his ideal tennis player by choosing strengths from different players and picked himself in two categories.

The 2022 Wimbledon finalist appeared on the Let’s Trot Show for the interview. He chose Djokovic for the best backhand, Federer for the best slice, and Nadal for both forehand and physical fitness. For speed, he selected his fellow Australian Alex de Minaur.

When it came to tennis IQ, Kyrgios surprised many by choosing himself. He expressed confidence in his ability to read the game better than others.

Kyrgios is part of a rare group of players who have defeated all members of the “Big 3.” Despite this, his career has been affected by frequent injuries and controversies over his behavior.

Nick Krygios is set to return to Grand Slam tennis at the 2024 Australian Open in January. This will be his first major tournament since 2022. The Australian Open organizers confirmed that Krygios will use a protected ranking of World No. 21 to enter the main draw.

Krygios, whose last match at the Rod Laver Arena was a four-set loss against Daniil Medvedev, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He reached the quarterfinals in Melbourne back in 2015. The former World No. 13 is known for his incredible shot-making skills and reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets.

In 2022, Krygios also made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open, his last major before his extended injury break. He hopes to claim the singles title in Melbourne, adding to the men’s doubles title he won with Thanasi Kokkinakis in 2022.

The Australian Open will feature 11 Australian players in the main draw. Among the men, top-ranked Alex de Minaur leads the group, which includes Kokkinakis, Alexei Popyrin, and Jordan Thompson. Olivia Gadecki is the only Australian woman to earn direct entry into the tournament.
