The Chiefs are considering a deal to sign the former Bills star pass-catcher who caused them pain in a dramatic playoff run.

For anyone who has been part of Chiefs Kingdom, there’s a general understanding that wide receiver issues have plagued Kansas City in recent years. While the issues in 2024 were largely due to Rashee Rice and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown’s respective injuries, it’s clear that the organization hasn’t done a great job of surrounding Patrick Mahomes with the pass-catchers he needs.

Skyy Moore’s failures have been the biggest reason that the position has disappointed, yet the recent acquisitions of Rice and Xavier Worthy should give fans faith that general manager Brett Veach is indeed actually capable of identifying these players.

In a surprise move, and the Chiefs are no strangers to signing veteran players, one ex-Bill who torched Kansas City in the playoffs is suddenly available.

Chiefs vs. Bills: Kansas City open as underdogs at home

In an announcement by the Jacksonville Jaguars’ public relations team on social media, the organization has officially released wideout Gabe Davis. Chiefs fans know him well after he scored a whopping four TDs during the famous AFC Divisional Round game known simply as “13 Seconds.”

He’s a gamer, and someone who could potentially uplift the struggling wide receiver room. Davis made history in that contest and almost became one of the least popular athletes in Kansas City, yet there’s a unique opportunity here that could benefit both parties.

Obviously, Rice, Worthy, Brown, and rookie Jalen Royals are the top four wideouts on the depth chart. JuJu Smith-Schuster and potentially even Moore can play a role as well, yet there’s room for improvement. Davis is a red-zone threat and could serve that purpose, despite the fact that he only caught 20 of 42 passes last year.

For a low-cost, high-upside guy of his stature, Davis has a lot of promise. Still just 26 years old, he’s entering his athletic prime. If the coaching staff believes in his ability, why not take a flier for training camp at the least?

It’d be fun to poach a Bills receiver, and now the opportunity has presented itself.
