Jason Mamoa stuns fans as he reveals huge new tattoo on his head
The actor, who rose to fame playing Game of Thrones’ Khal Drogo in 2011, was heading to New Zealand on Wednesday when he showed off the huge inking before boarding the plane.
Whipping off his bowler hat, Jason, 43, said to his 17.1 million followers: “I got something pretty special for ya.
“Chief of War coming for ya baby.”
His team confirmed the reason behind the design to JustJared, saying: “He got his head and neck tattooed. It’s a huge piece, it’s related to his Hawaiian roots and culture.”
One fan replied to Jason’s post: “AmaZing! Have fun! love the tattoo.”
Another echoed: “Sick tat dude!!” and a third agreed: “Temple shave looks sick, along with that tattoo.”
A fourth added: “Omg I love it so cool.”
Jason is thought to be worth £21m since shooting to stardom in Game of Thrones.
But he recently said he says he was left in debt after being killed off in the first series.
Jason, who recently split from actress wife Lisa Bonet, said: “We were starving after Game Of Thrones. I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.”
He directed and wrote 2014 film Road To Paloma, and he was cast as Aquaman in the 2016 Batman V Superman film and played the lead in 2018’s Aquaman.
He was paid a reported £10.1million for the project and this is likely to be matched for the 2022 sequel.
