With the 2025 NFL schedule release right around the corner, the league already started to reveal some fixtures of the upcoming season. On Tuesday, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs found out the date for their Super Bowl LIX rematch against Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, the Chiefs will host the Eagles in their home opener at Arrowhead on Sunday, September 14, in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season. The game, set to kick off at 4:25 PM (ET), will be broadcast by FOX.

While this time of the year could allow Reid and Mahomes to seek revenge against Hurts and company without the wear and tear that comes after weeks of regular season competition, Kansas City could be dealing with a concerning disadvantage to prepare for this game.

Not only would the Eagles have an extra day of rest for the Week 2 game, but the Chiefs may also have to travel a much longer distance after their season opener. While Philadelphia will host the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL season opener on Thursday, September 4; Kansas City is expected to play overseas in Week 1.

Mahomes being tackled by Josh Sweat

Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs is sacked by Josh Sweat #19 of the Philadelphia Eagles in the second quarter during Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome on February 09, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The league is expected to confirm on Wednesday that the Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in their first game of the season on Friday, September 5. Less rest and a longer trip would present Reid and Mahomes with an extra challenge to prepare for their rematch against Hurts’ Eagles, though at least they’ll have home field advantage.

Other revealed fixtures for Reid, Mahomes’ Chiefs in 2025

As we wait for the NFL to confirm whether Kansas City is the designated team to play the Chargers in Brazil, Chiefs Kingdom already knows other fixtures for its team apart from the Super Bowl LIX rematch.

After hosting Hurts and the Eagles in Week 2, Reid and Mahomes will hit the road to play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 3.

Later in the campaign, the Chiefs will once again be on the national spotlight on Thursday, November 27, when they travel to Texas to play the Dallas Cowboys, who have become a fixture on Thanksgiving.
