Controversial British journalist Piers Morgan was invited at Nick Kyrgios‘ podcast. They discussed the Aussie’s 2022 Wimbledon campaign among other topics.

Kyrgios claimed when he reached the final, the British press had no praise for him. He asked Morgan what would have happened had he defeated Novak Djokovic and lifted the Wimbledon.

Kyrgios is a controversial figure in the tennis world and in the 2022 Wimbledon, controversy erupted due to the 29-year-old who broke the tournament’s all-white dress code. He wore red trainers before and after the match against Brandon Nakashima in the fourth round on the Centre Court.

In earlier rounds, he also spat toward a fan and swore during his third-round match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Had he defeated Djokovic in the final, he would have become a cynosure of all eyes, according to Morgan.

Andy Murray retired at the Paris Olympics this year but his last match on the tour was at the Wimbledon. He couldn’t singles because of an injury issue but played doubles with his brother Jamie Murray, but they were defeated in the first round.

Murray was a two-time Wimbledon champion, winning the title in 2013 and 2016. During Nick Kyrgios‘ podcast, he and Piers Morgan also discussed Murray’s career and both agreed that the Scot should have a statue at the Wimbledon.

The Wimbledon was the first Grand Slam tournament where Kyrgios reached the final. Kyrgios, then unseeded, met first-seed Djokovic and defeated him in the first set. But the Serb, after winning the second set, did not let the momentum shift toward his opponent and soon he won the match to lift his seventh title at SW19.
