Carlos Alcaraz believes “hungry” Novak Djokovic can win the 2025 Australian Open

Novak Djokovic failed to deliver his best tennis in the 2024 season, and that has left him without a tour-level title. However, the 37-year-old has not been written off by several players. Carlos Alcaraz has predicted that the Serbian legend can win the 2025 Australian Open if he is hungry for it.

Djokovic’s only success this season came at the Paris Olympics in July, where he won the elusive gold medal after defeating Alcaraz in the final. However, in the tour-level tournaments, he failed to perform as expected.

He did reach the Wimbledon Championship and Rolex Shanghai Masters final but lost to Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, respectively. The 37-year-old recently withdrew from the Paris Masters and ATP Finals in Turin, despite winning both titles last year. He finished the 2023 season on a high after clinching his 24th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic record this season has made him less favorite to win tournaments, especially Grand Slams. However, Alcaraz believes the Serbian legend can win the 2025 Australian Open.

Recently, Novak Djokovic has admitted he will focus on competing in Grand Slam tournaments and national events. He remains the record champion at the Australian Open having won it 10 times in his career.

Carlos Alcaraz’s 2024 Tour season came to an end after losing to Alexander Zverev in the final round-robin match at the ATP Finals in Turin. The Spaniard struggled at the event with illness and was only able to beat Andrey Rublev. Indoor tournaments have become the 21-year-old’s Achilles heel, as he has managed just one win in two tournaments.

However, Alcaraz ended the year with four titles including two Grand Slams. After exiting the ATP Finals, he revealed his goal for the 2025 season.

Alcaraz will travel to Malaga, Spain, to join the Spanish team ahead of the Davis Cup Finals, which starts on November 19. The Spaniard will be joined by tennis legend Rafael NadalRoberto Bautista AgutPedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers.
