Novak Djokovic is the lone member of the Big 3 who is still playing and his former rival Tomas Berdych explained what is driving the Serb to prolong his career. Djokovic’s biggest rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have retired at the 2022 Laver Cup and the 2024 Davis Cup respectively.

Djokovic, though he has suffered a massive slump in form in 2024, still desires to play for a few more years. According to Berdych, it’s Djokovic’s goal of winning 25 Majors and perhaps more that’s stopped him from hanging up his racket.

The 37-year-old has already surpassed the Grand Slam records in men’s tennis by clinching 24 of them and has started his training for the next season under new coach Andy Murray. He will kick start his campaign at the Brisbane International where he’s set to play doubles with Nick Kyrgios, before flying to Melbourne to bid for his 25th major.

Patrick Mouratoglou was surprised by the announcement of Novak Djokovic that he hired Andy Murray as his coach. The French coach however lauded the Brit for choosing to work with one of his biggest rivals.

Murray retired at the Paris Olympics where Djokovic won the gold medal, the only title of the 2024 season. The Scot’s major task will be to guide Djokovic to his 11th Australian Open by challenging the youngstres, the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, both of who won all four Grand Slam titles this season.
