Lions DC Aaron Glenn: “Dumb” to think we should panic over loss to Bills.. – VC

Injuries have taken a lot of players off the field for the Lions defense in recent weeks and the impact of their absence was felt during last Sunday’s loss to the Bills.

That loss slowed the Lions’ bid for the top seed in the NFC and it sparked a lot of discussion if the team will have enough pieces to make a long postseason run, but defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn doesn’t want to make too much of it. Glenn wondered on Thursday “what do we have to sit back and be sad” about when they have a 12-2 record and a spot in the postseason already in their pocket.

“Our job is to go play football and that’s what we’re going to continue to do,” Glenn said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “We lost one game. Well, two games. We lost two games. We have chance to win out and accomplish everything that we want to accomplish so why should we sit back and wallow and think the sky’s falling? It’s dumb.”

The Lions didn’t give up 30 points in a game over their first 12 contests, but they allowed 48 points against the Bills and they allowed 31 in a win over the Packers in Week 14. Those results along with all of the missing players create reasons for worry beyond one loss to a good Buffalo team, but Glenn believes the Lions can still put a “damn good defense on the field.”

Proving him right against the Bears this weekend would be a step in the right direction for the Lions.
