The Detroit Lions sit atop the NFC North and lead the NFC standings, positioning coach Dan Campbell’s squad for a potential run at home-field advantage throughout the 2024-2025 NFL Playoffs.

Despite a series of injuries affecting the team, including running back David Montgomery, the Lions’ powerful running back tandem of Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs continues to make headlines. Known as ‘Sonic and Knuckles,’ the duo was recently recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame with a display in Canton, Ohio.

“New to the Hall of Fame! ‘Sonic and Knuckles’ are the latest additions,” the Hall of Fame’s official X account announced on Wednesday. “The @lions dynamic duo of Jahmyr Gibbs (Sonic) and David Montgomery (Knuckles) reached an NFL milestone, celebrated with this signed football now on display.”

Montgomery and Gibbs carved their names into the record books after a game against Green Bay earlier this month. They became the first teammates in NFL history to surpass 2,000 scrimmage yards and score 20 or more touchdowns each within their first 25 games together (from 2023 to 2024).

Montgomery, unfortunately, will be sidelined temporarily with a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury. He has opted to pursue rehab instead of surgery, aiming for a return during the playoffs or earlier.
