UPDATE: Philadelphia Eagles make major roster move ahead of game against Commanders – do you think this lineup change makes sense?-HN

The Philadelphia Eagles made one roster move before their Week 16 game against the Washington Commanders:

  • Fullback Khari Blasingame was temporarily called up from the practice squad.
Note: Teams can call up practice squad players three times during the regular season and as many times as they want in the playoffs.
  • Eagles make a roster move ahead of the Commanders game - Bleeding Green Nation

KHARI BLASINGAME

This is the third straight week the Eagles have called up Blasingame. Since he’s reached his limit for regular season call-ups, he can’t be elevated again until the playoffs. If the Eagles want him to play in the last two regular season games, they’ll have to officially add him to the active roster. Most likely, they’ll leave him on the practice squad until the postseason.

Blasingame hasn’t played much so far:

  • Week 14: 1 snap on offense, 15 snaps on special teams
  • Week 15: 0 snaps on offense, 15 snaps on special teams

The Eagles are expected to run the ball frequently against Washington’s defense, which has struggled to stop the run. Washington ranks among the worst in yards allowed per rush. Using Blasingame as a lead blocker for Saquon Barkley could help.

However, the Eagles didn’t use a fullback the last time they played the Commanders. In that game, Ben VanSumeren didn’t play any snaps on offense.

Blasingame might only play on special teams again this week. We’ll have to wait and see.

Eagles vs Commanders score, highlights: Philadelphia wins 6th straight

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS UPDATE

The Commanders called up one player: defensive tackle Carl Davis.

Interestingly, they did not call up either of their practice squad tight ends (Tyree Jackson or Cole Turner). This could mean Zach Ertz, who was listed as questionable with a concussion and shoulder injury, might be ready to play.
