The San Francisco 49ers’ decision to suspend De’Vondre Campbell for the final three games of the season left them a little light at linebacker, but they addressed that deficiency on Saturday ahead of their Week 16 meeting with the Miami Dolphins.
San Francisco filled Campbell’s roster spot by promoting Jalen Graham, their 2023 seventh-round pick, from the practice squad to the active roster.
Graham, who failed to make the 53-man roster at the start of the season before spending a brief spell with the Washington Commanders, has appeared in five games this season, though he has played in just 20 defensive snaps.
In addition to Graham’s elevated, the 49ers also promoted offensive lineman Austen Pleasants to the 53-man roster having signed him earlier this week. In a corresponding move, the 49ers waived offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez.
Additionally, the 49ers elevated two players to the gameday roster for the Dolphins matchup from the practice squad.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn is set to make his third appearance of the season at running back with rookie Isaac Guerendo out and Patrick Taylor Jr. set to lead the backfield.
San Francisco also elevated defensive end Alex Barrett for the first time this season. Former Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa and Robert Beal are both listed as questionable at that position because of hip/oblique and ankle injuries respectively.
