The Buffalo Bills entered the weekend with just three games left before the playoffs begin.
In their way today in Week 16 were the lowly New England Patriots, who were game enough but lost ….. – leaving the big story to be the health of MVP candidate Josh Allen.
Coming into this game? Allen over the last two outings has been out of this world, having 10 total touchdowns (five passing, five rushing), 704 passing yards, and 150 rushing yards to be the firm MVP leader.
And here? He was good enough, and he finished the game. But he did so with not one but two issues involving his non-throwing hand and arm.
Coming in, he’s been accomplishing his feats while “hiding” a broken hand injury.
But his fine work started early, all the way back to Week 1, when he went airborne to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Arizona Cardinals, coming down hard on his left hand.
Allen has worn a protective glove on his left hand during both practices and games. He regularly appeared on the official injury report through the Bills’ Week 12 bye. … but the club has never before said the non-throwing hand is “broken.”
An on this day? An awkward fall on his left elbow seems to be the reason for his issues over the course of this outing.
It is hoped that on the above play he simply his his “funny bone” on the hard and cold turf …. because it is worth noting that he finished the game on the field to close out the victory as the Bills keep up their chase of the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
