In the week 15 game against the Lions, the Bills had a sense of urgency. The Rams had defeated them in week 14, and they wanted to get back on winning track. At the 11:48 mark in the first quarter, Josh Allen got the snap. Eyes all over the field, he was calmly searching for a teammate as the Lions’ defense ran through the pocket. He ran towards right before making a 24-yard pass to his RB Ty Johnson. That’s his mentality to keep the ball. With a physique big enough to tackle some players, he is a frontrunner for MVP in 2024. But that’s a talk for the later part of the season.
In week 17, they face the NY Jets who are already out of the playoff race. But the Bills QB understands that they are a tough team. Speaking to reporters on December 26, the QB warned his locker room about the coming game and said, “The team that we’re playing, they don’t really have anything to lose, so might as well go out and try to win with a bang and, and do something crazy that you haven’t showed on tape. And, again, we just got to be ready for everything that they can throw at us and just try to execute as best as we can.” That comes with the experience.
However, the locker room would be more than ready and excited for the Jets game at the same time. Though they faced some tough competition against Patriots in the week 16, they won 24-21. The complacency came in and cost them some drives. Patriots’ defense came up with a man-to-man marking in the game and won the plays, including the 3rd & 16 play at the 8:15 mark in the 2nd quarter where Josh Allen was forced to make a 40+ yard pass which the Patriots FS Martu Mapu intercepted.
