BREAKING: Lions Facing Defensive Setback – Super Bowl Champion Defender Predicted to Exit-HN

The Detroit Lions are 13-2 as we enter Week 17 of the NFL schedule. The Lions hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC and look to have the postseason run through Ford Field.

They’ve looked like one of the best teams in the league and seek to bring home the Lombardi Trophy. While that is the attention within the organization, chatter around the offseason has started.

Multiple teams have been eliminated from playoff contention and will look for improvements. Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department released an article discussing potential additions teams could make in free agency.

In that article, they suggested that the Baltimore Ravens will sign cornerback Carlton Davis.

They wrote, “The cornerback position has been a headache throughout the season for the Ravens. Adding Tre’Davious White in the middle of the campaign didn’t help, and Brandon Stephens has been a liability all year. They have a good long-term answer in Nate Wiggins, but he’s still a rookie who has dealt with some injuries. The solution might lie in making a real investment in a veteran on a short-term contract. Carlton Davis has helped the Lions stabilize their secondary and could show up to do the same thing in Baltimore.”

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell watches a play against Chicago Bears during the first half at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024.

This season, the Ravens are ranked 29th in the league in pass defense (248.5). They’ve had trouble stopping the pass all year long and could look to poach Davis from the Lions.

Back in March, the Lions traded for Davis to help solidify the secondary for them. In 13 games for Detroit, Davis has recorded 56 total tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions. According to PFF, the Auburn product has a 74.5 overall grade and a 72.1 coverage grade.

The 27-year-old secured Super Bowl champion LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has plenty of valuable postseason experience.

The Lions could look to bring him back to the fold in 2025, but that won’t be easy to do. There will be multiple suitors for Davis, and the Ravens may be one of them.

Davis currently has a broken jaw, and his chances of returning this year are up in the air. There’s a possibility that he played his last game with the Lions.

If he did, keep an eye on the Ravens snagging him come March.
