UPDATE: Detroit Lions’ offense makes NFL history vs. 49ers with insane stat.THANHDUNG

The Detroit Lions notched a high-scoring victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 17, as Dan Campbell’s squad is now 14-2 and has won 13 of their last 14 games. The Lions will host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 at Ford Field, with the NFC North and No.1 seed in the conference up for grabs.

It was another productive night for Detroit’s offense, as Ben Johnson’s unit continues to be the most dynamic group in the NFL. The Lions posted 40 points on Monday Night versus the 49ers and set an NFL record that may never be broken.

Week 17 versus San Francisco was the fifth game this season Detroit scored 40 points or more with zero turnovers. Week 4 versus the Seattle Seahawks, Week 6 versus the Dallas Cowboys, Week 8 versus the Tennessee Titans, and Week 11 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars are the other four contests in 2024 in which the Lions accomplished this feat.

It has been a record-breaking season for Detroit’s offense, and even in a meaningless game on the West Coast, the unit looks unstoppable. Quarterback Jared Goff is playing at an MVP level, running back Jahmyr Gibbs has shown zero signs of slowing down despite losing his running mate David Montgomery to an MCL injury in Week 15, and the wide receiver duo of Amon-Ra St.Brown and Jameson Williams has been electric.

The Lions will need another fantastic outing from their offense next week as the red-hot Vikings, on a nine-game winning streak, come to the Motor City in the biggest game of the season for both teams. The winner takes home the division and No.1 seed, which includes a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason, and the loser has to play on Wild Card weekend.
