The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked down the No. 5 seed in this. year’s AFC playoffs, but are mired in a three-game losing streak to playoff-worthy teams.
One of those teams is the AFC’s No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs.
With the top seed in the conference and a first-round bye already clinched, the Chiefs will sit many of their players in their Week 18 contest against the Denver Broncos.
That includes Patrick Mahomes, who will give way to backup quarterback Carson Wentz under center. But according to NFL Network’s Peter Schrager, Wentz isn’t expected to play the entire game, allowing former Steelers 2022 seventh-round draft pick Chris Oladokun to make his NFL debut and see some on-field action.
Oladokun was released before the start of the 2022 season after falling behind on the depth chart to fellow draftee Kenny Pickett and backup Mason Rudolph.
The former South Florida, Stanford and South Dakota State quarterback signed with the Chiefs not long after and has remained on the practice squad in Kansas City ever since.
Although the Chiefs are locked in at the No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Broncos are fighting for the final postseason berth in the conference and have everything to play for.
