BREAKING: Tom Brady ‘regresses’ as NFL broadcaster as critics question his $375m deal with Fox -bb

The seven-time Super Bowl champion hasn’t even been in the broadcast booth for a full season yet but his critics have been out in full force after his latest call

Tom Brady has been slammed by critics for his broadcasting skills on Fox Sports

Tom Brady’s debut season in NFL broadcasting has come under further scrutiny as fans and analysts express their disappointment at the former New England Patriots star.

Swapping the gridiron for the commentator’s booth seemed a natural transition for the seven-time Super Bowl champion as he looked ahead to life post-retirement, yet things perhaps haven’t gone quite as well as some would have hoped since hanging up his boots almost two years ago.

After calling time on his trophy-laden NFL career in February 2023, Brady signed a staggering $375million deal with Fox Sports to become the network’s lead color commentator for its NFL coverage, leaving fans and pundits alike buzzing about the insights he’d bring to the broadcast.

But after watching and listening to him for 16 games, some are now questioning whether Fox Sports may have bitten off more than they can chew with the football legend, especially after his performance during the latest round of fixtures when he was on air for the Week 16 clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

The former quarterback had a few slip-ups, notably misidentifying a player during a touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Rashod Bateman, which he swiftly corrected.

“This is Cory Trice at corner,” Brady noted. “The second-year player who hasn’t had much playing experience. They run a high-low concept and he just takes the cheese up here on Likely and exposes the safety to this easy throw here to Lamar.”

It might seem like nitpicking, especially given it’s his first season in a ten-year deal, and he’ll expectedly get better with every passing year, but his recent gaffes have sparked talks of his decline behind the mic and left some doubting whether Brady should still be part of Fox’s A-team in 2025?

That includes Andrew Marchand, senior writer at The Athletic, who certainly didn’t mince words when he criticized Brady in a tweet on Saturday night. “Brady regressed this week. No extra insight all day,” he posted. “He said ‘chunks’ a thousand times.”

Marchand isn’t alone in his critique of Brady, however, with Safid Deen from USA Today, also expressing his annoyance, writing: “Tom Brady replacing Greg Olsen in the booth is like Mac Jones replacing Brady in New England. Nobody wants to see that s***.”
