The Dallas Cowboys are heading into an offseason of uncertainty, with their postseason hopes dashed and plenty of decisions looming. But off the field, quarterback Dak Prescott is focusing on a more immediate concern: the safety of his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, and their family.
Recently, Ramos’ car was broken into while she was at a Pilates class in Dallas, with approximately $40,000 worth of property stolen. The incident is part of a troubling trend of high-profile athletes being targeted in robberies. Other recent victims include NBA star Luka Doncic, Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, and NFL standouts Joe Burrow and Jason Kelce.
Prescott Addresses the Incident
Speaking to ESPN, Prescott made it clear he didn’t want his fiancée’s experience conflated with other high-profile cases but acknowledged the importance of heightened security measures.
“I don’t want to tie that in, and I don’t want anybody to tie that in with other things that have been happening,” Prescott said. “Her car got broken into at Pilates in Dallas. Who knows how many times that happens a day? So that’s that.”
While Prescott downplayed the connection between Ramos’ robbery and the broader trend of athlete-targeted crimes, he emphasized his commitment to protecting his family.
“As far as protecting the home and that — yeah, I’m going to take every step necessary to ensure the safety and that doesn’t happen to me,” he continued.
A Growing Concern Among Athletes
The robbery underscores a growing concern for professional athletes and celebrities, who often find themselves targeted due to their public profiles and perceived wealth. Prescott acknowledged this reality, noting the unique vulnerabilities that come with fame.
“I think for anybody across the league, or anybody of celebrity status, I guess you could say, it’s unfortunate but, yeah, we have to take and do what’s necessary to protect us and our family,” Prescott stated.
The Cowboys quarterback did not elaborate on specific security measures he plans to implement but hinted at taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of his loved ones.
Uncertain Times Ahead for the Cowboys
As Prescott and the Cowboys head into the offseason, the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges athletes face both on and off the field. With the team preparing to reassess its roster and strategy, Prescott’s focus on family and security highlights the balance athletes must strike between their professional and personal lives.
For Prescott, safeguarding his family is as much a priority as preparing for the next NFL season. The robbery may have shaken the household, but his resolve to protect his loved ones remains unwavering.
