In a heartwarming display of loyalty and friendship, a dog in Texas recently made headlines for refusing to come down from his favorite horse. The dog, a Great Pyrenees named Apollo, had climbed onto the back of his horse friend, a retired racehorse named Teddy, and refused to budge.
According to Apollo’s owner, the two animals have been inseparable since they first met. Apollo is fiercely protective of Teddy, and often uses his large size to shield the horse from harm. Teddy, in turn, seems to enjoy the company of his loyal canine companion, and has even been known to nuzzle Apollo affectionately.
While some onlookers initially expressed concern for the safety of the animals, Apollo’s owner insists that the dog is perfectly safe atop his horse friend. In fact, she says, Apollo is so comfortable on Teddy’s back that he often falls asleep while perched there.
The heartwarming bond between Apollo and Teddy has captured the attention of animal lovers around the world. Many have praised the two animals for their unlikely friendship, and for the reminder they provide of the power of love and loyalty, even across species boundaries.
