Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could be on the hot seat and faces being fired if his team doesn’t have a deep playoff run, ESPN has reported.
The Eagles have an impressive 13-3 record this season with them looking like legitimate Super Bowl contenders heading into the postseason, but it appears that the front office wants to see improvement in the playoffs with Bill Belichick potentially available.
This is despite the legendary figure recently accepting a job in college football, set to become UNC’s head coach, with news emerging that he has a clause that sees him able to leave the school on the cheap if an NFL opportunity arises.

Coming into the 2024 season, Sirianni had appeared to be on the hot seat after a difficult year in 2023, where he had seemingly fallen out with Jalen Hurts as the team limped to an 11-6 finish before being blown out in the first round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles made multiple coaching changes, but decided to keep Sirianni as their head coach with him clearly needing to impress this year to remain in the role. And while he seemingly has done so, he may still have some detractors in the front office with them wanting to see their team challenge the likes of the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings in the NFC.

Belichick had been strongly linked with the Eagles last year, and was said to have been admiring the role himself as his preferred option, but a move for the six time Super Bowl winner never amassed, surprisingly taking a role in college football.
Just weeks after this though, it had been reported that Belichick has a clause in his contract that means he could leave UNC should an NFL job opening become offered to him.
Colin Cowherd had said: “Here’s my hottest take… If Philadelphia loses in the first round or the second round, Bill Belichick can get out of his contract this July [2025]. Belichick already got his kid at Carolina to be the DC. Why did Carolina allow Belichick to have that? Because Belichick knows there are two jobs that are fascinating – Philly and Buffalo.”
