Deion Sanders speaks out: Does he plan to return as Cowboys coach?

The Dallas Cowboys season has officially gone off the rails. Following another drubbing at home, this time at the hands of the Houston Texans, the Cowboys are 3-7 and staring at a long offseason.

It has been reported that Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is on thin ice. The team declined to offer him a contract extension this past year. Considering the massive failure in 2024, it stands to reason he will be out at the season’s end.

That created speculation that Deion Sanders, the current coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, will make a triumphant return to Dallas.

Sanders, of course, is a Pro Football Hall of Famer who helped lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl win during the 1995-1996 season.

Speaking Tuesday during a press conference, Sanders addressed the rumors of an NFL return.

“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said. “I’ve got a kickstand down. I love it here, truly do.”

Prime has consistently stated his desire to remain in Colorado. Sanders detailed the elevated importance of being a “leader of men” at the college level.

He has done an excellent job rebuilding the program in Boulder. Following a disappointing 2023 campaign, Colorado has moved up to #16 in the polls. They are 8-2 and staring at another win Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Granted, the team will be losing the Heisman front-runner Travis Hunter and Sanders’ son, Shedeur, to the NFL Draft.

But if Sanders is being genuine with his thoughts, Jerry Jones might have to look elsewhere.
