UPDATE: Kansas City Chiefs Get Final Update on DeAndre Hopkins Trade With Titans…TS.DHUNG.

The Kansas City Chiefs will enjoy the week off, as they finished the 2024 regular season with a 15-2 record that earned them the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff picture. And now that the regular season has concluded, the team has some clarity on the full details of their midseason trade for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

With Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown both missing the majority of the year with long-term injuries, the Chiefs went out and traded for Hopkins from the Titans. Hopkins made an immediate impact with the Chiefs, and he ended up hauling in 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns over his 10 games with them.

In exchange for Hopkins, Kansas City sent Tennessee a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft that could become a fourth-rounder if he played more than 60% of the Chiefs offensive snaps during his time with them. That did not end up happening, so KC will have picked up Hopkins for only a fifth-round pick.

“DeAndre Hopkins saw less than 50% of regular season snaps in 2024, meaning the Chiefs will send the Titans a 2025 5th round pick (instead of a potential 4th),” Spotrac shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

While Hopkins ended up being precisely the sort of playmaker the Chiefs were looking for, his role became a bit more limited as the season went on. With Xavier Worthy emerging as the team’s top wide receiver, and Brown returning to the field late in the year, Hopkins ended up becoming the team’s third option at wide receiver.

As we can see with his numbers, Hopkins still made an impact for Kansas City, and who knows, maybe they were keeping this figure in mind when it came to playing him during the regular season.

At this point, the Chiefs sole focus is on winning their third straight Super Bowl, and if they can accomplish that goal, Hopkins surely won’t care how many snaps he plays, although it will be worth keeping an eye on him to see what his role will be in the postseason.
