UPDATE: NFL reporter thinks Steelers could replace Russell Wilson with $112 million quarterback.THANHDUNG

The Pittsburgh Steelers had an awful end to the 2024 regular season, as the team lost four straight games and failed to win the AFC North after having control of the division for most of the year. Despite their troubling finish, Pittsburgh still concluded the season with a 10-7 record and will square off against the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round on Saturday.

Russell Wilson has been uninspiring during the Steelers’ four-game skid, as the veteran has struggled to keep the ball out of danger, and the offense looks stagnant with Wilson at the helm. The 2012 third-round pick will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, as will backup quarterback Justin Fields. There is a ton of uncertainty surrounding the sport’s most vital position in Pittsburgh.

Wilson could reprise his role as the team’s starter next season, but during an appearance on the Let’s Go Show on Mad Dog Sports Radio, long-time NFL reporter Peter King stated that he believes New York Jets signal caller Aaron Rodgers could be the Steelers starting quarterback in 2025.

“If I were the Pittsburgh Steelers, knowing that I’ve got Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt, I got guys on defense with their expiration dates not long in the future, I would want to come in and try to get a quarterback who could make me competitive with Baltimore and Cincinnati in 2025. And that guy, to me, would be Aaron Rodgers,” King said on the Let’s Go Show on Tuesday.

Rodgers isn’t the same player he once was, but the future Hall of Famer is still a capable starting quarterback in the NFL and had a solid statistical season. The 40-year-old completed 63% of his passes and tossed 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 2024.

Rodgers is still under contract with the Jets through 2026, but the veteran is unlikely to be back in New York next year, per multiple reports. There have also been some murmurings that the ten-time Pro Bowler could retire in the offseason.

If Rodgers decides to play in 2025 and his price tag in a trade with the Jets isn’t too high, the Steelers should consider acquiring the four-time MVP. Rodgers isn’t an elite signal caller anymore, but he’s a slight upgrade over Russell Wilson and may have one more magical season in him.
