There are a lot of great takeaways from the Lions’ Week 18 win. Division winners? Sure. Most wins in franchise history? Absolutely. 1-seed for the first time ever? Easy work.
But there’s one thing more important than any of that: celebrity endorsements. There’s nothing more exciting than knowing that the latest Marvel actor is kind of a Lions fan. Their cousins once lived in Detroit! And they’ve always had a soft spot for lovable losers! Their brand is the Detroit Lions, we just didn’t know it because they spent the first 30 years of their life not mentioning it in any public setting ever.
But that’s all a thing of the past! It’s time to secure those playoff sideline passes. And there’s no easier way to do that than having your team call up the NFL’s team for a little *~Brand Synergy.~* SponCon truly makes the world go around.
But I’m sure that isn’t the case for Dax Shepard, who probably just loves the Lions. Doing coordinated bits for attention is something a Vikings fan would do. Shepard is simply a football fan, and just had to watch his beloved Lions during the Golden Globes on Sunday night. It’s not their fault that the NFL’s official Twitter account saw it, reposted it, and tagged them in it! Imagine how surprised their reps were to see this go viral!
Dax Shepard watching Lions-Vikings on SNF from the Golden Globe is certainly something
Ha ha! Epic! Paying attention to a football game on your phone during a formal event in support of your wife, always a great bit. Original, too. I bet this routine kills at all the fall weddings they go to. Some celebs aren’t relateable, but Shepard totally is! Because he watches football! And owns a cell phone!
Just because I need to throw in a sentence here to prove that I’m not totally joyless: if there’s one instance where this move is justifiable, it’s probably at awards shows. If there’s one thing less interesting than “guy who watches sports on his phone wherever he goes” it’s “every single award show.” I’m sure the Shepard NFC Divisional Round voiceover package is already in the works.
