REPORT: Buffalo Bills open NFL postseason with just one injury to report.THANHDUNG

It’s officially the NFL postseason, and the Buffalo Bills only have one injury threatening their active roster for Sunday’s playoff game against the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.

While there are 16 names on this week’s injury report, 14 of them are receiving what we could consider “continuing care” for injuries that have plagued them, but not keeping players off the field, for a while. It’s only special teams return man Brandon Codrington who’s really at risk of not being ready for Sunday’s game.

Codrington has been a standout on special teams for the Bills this season as he’s served as their primary kick and punt returner. The rookie, whom the Bills acquired via trade, in which they sent a pair of late-round 2026 draft picks to the New York Jets, has returned 11 kicks for 306 yards this season — including a long of 53 yards. Codrington also returned 27 punts for 313 yards.

In Buffalo’s last two regular-season games, the special teams ace got some defensive snaps in. For Week 17, the Bills chose to rest the majority of their starters when the scoreboard read 33-0 at the start of the fourth quarter. After Buffalo’s 40-14 finish that week, they chose to again rest the majority of their starters for the entirety of Week 18. That meant Codrington would play as cornerback, making three tackles. While his injury was never announced in real time, it’s likely that the rookie suffered his hamstring injury on special teams and not on defense as seen in the clip below.

Now the Bills may be looking to running back Ty Johnson and wide receiver Mack Hollins to fill Codrington’s role on Sunday. But, there are still two more days of practice this week, so time will tell us more about his injury, recovery, and game-day status.

The only other Bills player to not practice on Wednesday was cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram. The versatile defensive back was excused from practice for personal reasons, so it’s reasonable to think that he will be available by Sunday.

In good news, the Bills returned both linebacker Terrel Bernard and wide receiver Amari Cooper to practice on Wednesday. Bernard missed last week’s practices and was inactive on Sunday with a quad injury he sustained in Week 17. Cooper did not travel with the team during Week 18 as he was attending to a personal matter according to the team.

So, other than Codrington, it looks like it’s going to be all-systems-go for the Bills as they try to advance to the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs for the fifth-straight year.
