Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen clarified the mysterious conversation he had with head referee Bill Vinovich on the sideline during Sunday’s Wild Card Round game against the Denver Broncos.

Josh Allen was visibly upset when the officials missed a clear-as-day defensive holding call against Patrick Surtain II on Dalton Kincaid in the end zone. The play happened in the third quarter, and the no-call forced Buffalo to kick a field goal instead of getting a fresh set of downs:

After the drive, CBS’ cameras caught Vinovich going over to the Buffalo sideline to have a chat with Allen. Predictably, this caused some outrage among fans who thought Vinovich was showing some favoritism toward the Buffalo QB:

But while speaking to reporters after the game, Josh Allen clarified that Bill Vinovich was merely trying to calm him down.

“I wasn’t happy with what was going on and I was yelling a little bit. And he just said, ‘Don’t be yelling.’ So, my bad. Sorry Bill.”

At any rate, Allen and the Bills cruised to a 31-7 victory to win their fifth straight Wild Card Weekend game. Buffalo will now host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round.

Josh Allen Had A Field Day vs. Broncos

The likely MVP winner was near-perfect on Sunday against one of the league’s best defenses, completing 20 of 26 pass attempts for 272 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions to go along with 46 rushing yards.
