Detroit Lions are America’s Team once again for NFL playoffs 2025-HN

Good riddance, Dallas Cowboys. The Detroit Lions are America’s Team now. Well, at least for this year’s playoffs.

While the Lions might not have the history or the fanbase that the Cowboys boast, they certainly have captured the attention of the rooting public heading into the NFL postseason.

Over the last few years, the Lions have been on steady climb to the top of the NFL, led by charismatic coach Dan Campbell and a fun cast of young and hungry players who seemingly don’t know any other way but winning.

After falling just short of the Super Bowl last year, losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship after holding a commanding halftime lead, the Lions have been an extremely motivated bunch, finishing the season 15-2 and locking up the 1-seed in the NFC.

Whether NFL fans are invested in the Lions’ quest to win their first Super Bowl, are along for the ride of the revenge tour or just flat out love Campbell and his postgame speeches, there is no doubt this team is resonating with neutral fans.

The Detroit Lions are America's Team for the 2024 NFL postseason, according to a study put together by betonine.ag. The Lions are 19 different state's favorite for this postseason.

According to information put together by betonline.ag, the Lions are clearly America’s team, with 19 states pulling for the Lions to win the Super Bowl this year.

The study was done by observing over 250,000 posts on “X” and the Lions’ 19 states were by far the highest, with the next closest being the Denver Broncos (5) and Buffalo Bills (4).

The Lions and Bills are of course two of the dozen franchises who have never won a Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers also haven’t won a Super Bowl before and qualified for this year’s postseason.

The interesting part about the Lions’ bandwagon this year is it goes from coast to coast, with fans from Maine to Washington and many places inbetween pulling for the Lions.

Will the support of the nation help the Lions not just win their first Super Bowl, but make their first Super Bowl? Only time will tell.

The Lions do not play during wild-card weekend after locking up the 1-seed and a first-round bye and will play whoever is the lowest seed remaining between the Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams.
