Erin Andrews had a couple of interviews with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield before the 2024 regular season ended, but the veteran NFL reporter admitted she was not feeling her best during the conversations she had with him.
With that said, Andrews made sure to apologize to Mayfield and explain her side of what happened.
In the latest episode of her “Calm Down” podcast with Charissa Thompson, the Fox Sports reporter shared that the chaos started when she put some retinol eye cream on her face while she was preparing to go to Tampa to do a sitdown interview with Mayfield and cover their Week 18 game against the New Orleans Saints.
After she stumbled on the retinol, Andrews shared that she “slathered” it on, then went to bed and traveled to Tampa. However, when she saw her face, that’s when she realized her mistake.
“I’m like, ‘What? What just happened?'” Andrews narrated. “Everything affects my skin. I think I’m trying to be preventative. Instead, I create an entire situation.”
Andrews shared that because of it, she ended up with a swollen left cheek while doing her sitdown with Mayfield. Then, during her postgame interview with the Bucs QB following their 27-19 win over the Saints, the 46-year-old reporter said that she “got a [expletive] Braille” all over her face — suggesting that she experienced some sort of acne or pimple breakout.
“Baker Mayfield, this is a public apology to you,” Andrews said. “I gotta stop. Enough is enough.”
For what it’s worth, fans didn’t notice Andrews’ struggles with her appearance during her interviews with Mayfield. In fact, several fans praised her for her work in her one-on-one.
Furthermore, her followers absolutely loved her postgame chat with the 29-year-old signal-caller.
