10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic showed his support for fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic after her big win on Day 6 of the 2025 Australian Open. On Friday, January 17, Danilovic stunned seventh seed Jessica Pegula to reach her first-ever fourth round at Melbourne Park. The 23-year-old won the match in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, in just an hour and 30 minutes.

In 2023, Danilovic and Djokovic teamed up to play mixed doubles for Serbia in the United Cup held in Australia. After her impressive victory over Pegula, Djokovic celebrated with excitement, raising his arms in joy. Pegula, the 2024 US Open runner-up, struggled with her game and couldn’t handle the intense conditions at Rod Laver Arena.

Pegula missed all six of her break-point opportunities during the match, which proved costly. The first set went to a tiebreak, where Danilovic won four consecutive points from 3-3 to claim it. In the second set, Danilovic quickly gained control, breaking Pegula’s serve for a 3-1 lead and dominating from there.

Danilovic’s next challenge will be against Spain’s Paula Badosa, who defeated Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the third round. This marks a major milestone in Danilovic’s career as she aims to continue her strong run in the tournament.

Novak Djokovic was not at his best on Friday at the Australian Open but still made a strong statement. The 10-time champion secured a commanding 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 win over Tomas Machac. With this victory, Djokovic advanced to the fourth round in Melbourne for the 17th time in his career.

Despite some physical struggles, Djokovic dominated from the baseline. He outplayed the 26th-seeded Czech player in a clinical match that lasted two hours and 22 minutes. This performance took place inside the iconic Rod Laver Arena.

Djokovic had already battled through tough four-set wins against Nishesh Basavareddy and Jaime Faria to reach this stage. During the second set, he called for the physio and took a medical break after the set. Even with these challenges, the 37-year-old Serbian delivered high-quality tennis to improve his head-to-head record against Machac to 2-1.

His ability to stay calm and perform under pressure will boost his confidence as he enters the second week. With World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in his section of the draw, Djokovic is now one win away from a possible quarterfinal clash with the Spaniard.
