The Green Bay Packers took down their NFC rivals in the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The win had to feel good as San Francisco has ended Green Bay’s season more than once over the last decade or so. The win moved Green Bay to 8-3 on the year and still right behind the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in the NFC North.
However, there was once again another coach to complain about Green Bay after losing to them. This time it was 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan.
“I Don’t Feel Should Be Allowed” Packers Dominant Win Over 49ers Draws Complaint From Kyle Shanahan
The saga started last week, when Matt Eberflus blamed the Packers for an uncalled penalty during the game-winning blocked field goal. After another kick was blocked by the Chicago Bears in Week 12, it appeared that Eberflus spent the entire week complaining rather than fixing it.
This week, Shanahan had this to say:
The 49ers’ head coach believes the Packers intentionally tried to catch the Niners with 12 players on the field and that the refs should’ve allowed them time to sub.
“It was a strategic play by them, but one that I don’t feel should be allowed. They didn’t give us time to sub on that. That’s why I was upset,” said Shanahan. “The next one, because they got away with it the first time, they tried to do it again the next play. That’s why I went out there arguing.”
“This time they did allow us to sub. I was out there screaming the whole time, so I’m not exactly aware of what happened with our 12 guys. But obviously we had 12 guys out there, they gave us time to sub, and we didn’t get one off. So the second one was on us.”
