BREAKING: When discussing potential free agents the Packers might pursue, Eric Fischer from FanSided recommended that the team acquire Chris Godwin, a standout player from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. nhathung

The Green Bay Packers might be in the market for a wide receiver during the offseason, given that they have substantial cap space and need to find a replacement for Christian Watson, who is expected to be out for a significant period.

Is Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin A Franchise Tag Candidate in 2025?

FanSided’s Eric Fischer has suggested that the Packers should consider signing Chris Godwin, a standout from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “This might be a bit optimistic, but let me explain. Chris Godwin is a free agent and is recovering from an ankle injury that limited his 2024 season to just seven games,” Fischer noted.

“During those games, Godwin recorded 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns, which would rank him third in touchdowns, fifth in yards, and tied for second in receptions for the 2024 Packers. He managed these stats in less than half of a season.” Adding Godwin carries some risk due to his significant injury, but his career has been marked by success. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2019 and surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in the three seasons leading up to his injury this year.

2024 Player Spotlight: Bucs' wide receiver Chris Godwin - Bucs Nation

Godwin has previously excelled against the Packers and could be an essential asset for Jordan Love and the offense. “Standing 6-foot-1, Godwin boasts impressive speed, having clocked a 4.42-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine before being drafted by the Buccaneers,” Fischer mentioned. “Packers fans are well aware of Godwin’s talent.

In his last two outings against Green Bay, he accumulated 15 receptions for 265 yards.” Godwin is an unrestricted free agent, and his injury may affect his market value. Spotrac estimates he could secure a three-year, $67 million contract in free agency. However, if his market value falls short of this projection, the Packers could potentially sign him at a reduced rate.
