The Miami Dolphins are placing their quarterback on injured reserve after his recent concussion, as announced by the team on Tuesday.
This move means Tagovailoa will be sidelined for at least four games, with the earliest possible return being the home matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on October 27.
The Dolphins have not disclosed any specific timeline for Tagovailoa’s comeback since he sustained his third recorded concussion as a professional player last Thursday during the game against the Buffalo Bills. “Regarding Tua’s career, it’s crucial for him to speak about it,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel stated on Monday.
“For me, my concern is the person and his day-to-day well-being. I’ll let Tua take charge of his career narrative.” On Monday, the Dolphins brought in Tyler Huntley to bolster the position’s depth.
Skylar Thompson, who stepped in for Tagovailoa during the 31-10 defeat to the Bills, is expected to start on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
