World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev faced challenges in 2024, frequently falling short against Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Now, his former coach, Ivan Pridankin, believes that the situation will remain unchanged in 2025.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominated the tennis world in 2024, winning all four Grand Slam titles. Sinner also ended the season by winning the ATP Finals and made history in June as the first Italian to become World No. 1.

Much of Sinner and Alcaraz’s success involved overcoming Medvedev. While the Russian often advanced to the later stages of tournaments, he struggled to defeat these two dominant players.

Medvedev’s only victory over either of them came in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, where he defeated Sinner to reach his second consecutive semifinal at SW19. However, he lost to Alcaraz in the semifinals, just as he had done a year earlier.

Daniil Medvedev finished the 2024 season without an ATP title but ended the year on a high note. His sponsor, Lacoste, honored him by naming a tennis court in France after him. This was a proud moment for the Russian star.

The court, located in Grasse, was created in partnership with Lacoste and the National Sports Agency of France. Medvedev shared the news with fans on X (formerly Twitter). The green and blue hard court celebrates his passion for video games.

The court design includes controller-inspired graphics at the baselines marked “Player 1” and “Player 2.” Medvedev’s logo is also featured. This tribute highlights his love for gaming and his achievements, including his 2021 US Open victory.

Medvedev has been a Lacoste ambassador since 2019 and will remain with the brand until 2026. Interestingly, his racquet is made by Tecnifibre, a company owned by Lacoste. In early 2023, the brand also launched Medvedev’s video-game-themed signature logo.
