The Pittsburgh Steelers need a running back, but could the answer for them come in the first round once again, just four years after they selected Najee Harris? Well, with Harris likely moving on to different pastures this offseason as a free agent, the Steelers need a running back.
Kyle Crabbs of the 33rd Football Team believes that if the Steelers want the most juice out of the position, they could look to a buzzworthy name. In his latest mock draft, Crabbs has the Steelers selecting running back Ashton Jeanty.
“Jeanty is undoubtedly one of the best players eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft when you disregard positional value. This highly productive running back creates a ton of added value to his touches thanks to an elite ability to create yards after contact and is capable of hitting home run carries through traffic,” Crabbs wrote.
Jeanty just wrapped up one of the best seasons for a running back in college football history. He finished second all-time in rushing yards in a season only behind Barry Sanders and helped carry the Broncos to a College Football Playoff berth.
The Steelers have other needs like cornerback, wide receiver, and defensive line, but if the value is there with someone like Jeanty at a more minor need, they might take a swing on the talent.
