Patrick Mahomes is a very big Dallas Mavericks fan.
So, on Saturday night, he was left speechless when the Mavericks executed a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charnia, the Mavericks, the Lakers, and the Utah Jazz have agreed a three-team deal that is highlighted by star Luka Dončić heading to the Lakers.
And Mahomes couldn’t believe it.
“Wait what?,” Mahomes wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I’m sick rn….,” he added.
Here is the full trade:
- Lakers: Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber, Markieff Morris –
- Mavericks: Anthony Davis, Max Christie, 2029 LAL 1st
- Jazz: Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2025 Clippers 2nd, 2025 Mavericks 2nd
Mahomes was born and raised in Texas, so it’s no surprise that his favorite team is the Mavericks. Dallas even made it all the way to the NBA Finals last season, and Mahomes narrated its hype video.
And much of that was due to Dončić.
The 6-foot-6 guard was drafted in the first round with the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Shortly after, he was traded to the Mavericks.
Across his seven year career, he is a five-time NBA All-Star, along with being Rookie of the Year in 2019. Plus, in 2024 he was the NBA scoring champion.
While the Lakers are losing Davis in this trade, allowing Doncic to team up with LeBron James will be a deadly combination.
But, it’s clear that Mahomes is not happy since his team just lost their best player.
