Jones, 82, watched on as the Cowboys defeated the Giants 27-20 at the AT&T Stadium.

The result meant it was the side’s first home success of the season after six attempts.

The Cowboys had been struggling this season despite high expectations.

The team is almost out of the playoff race and starting quarterback Dak Prescott has been ruled out for the season.

However, there has been a turn in the tide as the Cowboys have now won back-to-back.

The Cowboys’ general manager met with the media after the win over the Giants in which he suggested it has taken more time for progress to be made on implementing tactics.

Jones said: “Well, it is certainly great to have those two wins back-to-back.

“Really proud of those guys, we got a little tired there at the end but that is what you do.

“They have certainly encouraged me. I am seeing the younger players playing better.

“I am seeing our defence really getting the hang of what (Mike) Zimmer wants to put in.

“This was more of a challenge than we thought it would be.

“But I am seeing them play as Zimmer is designing it, and I am really particularly please with (Cooper) Rush playing quarterback.

“I thought he had everything to do with us being successful.

“We have got a lot of young players out there that are getting a lot of reputation that will pay off for us and pay off for the rest of this year.”

The Cowboys will continue their season against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 10.

The match will give the side the chance to pick up their second win at the AT&T Stadium of the season.
