Nick Kyrgios declares tennis ‘is cooked’ while taking brutal dig at Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner amid doping controversy

Nick Kyrgios did not mince his words when expressing his opinion on the Jannik Sinner doping controversy. Although the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) was accused of double standards for its treatment of Sinner, Kyrgios still thinks the Italian violated the doping rules. Kyrgios also jibed at Iga Swiatek.

On Thursday (November 28), the ITIA announced that a performer enhancer, trimetazidine (TMZ), was found in Swiatek’s sample in August this year just a few days ago before the start of the Cincinnati Open. Swiatek was fined the prize money she won in that tournament after reaching the semifinals. She was contaminated because of consuming melatonin (which contained TMZ) for jet lag and work-related stress issues.

That two World No. 1s (Swiatek was No. 1 when she failed the test), avoided lengthy ban is the reason why ITIA is again at the receiving end of criticism. And this is why Kyrgios wrote ‘OUR SPORT US COOKED’ on X while replying to a sarcastic tweet of a user who mocked the ITIA for their decision to ban the Pole for just one month.

A Sinner fan tried to school the Australian by mocking him for not playing. But Kyrgios hit back and said he is returning to professional tennis next year. Kyrgios is set to play a professional match after remaining on the sidelines for a very long time due to injury.

In another tweet, Kyrgios replied to a user who asked about a ‘bold’ prediction for the 2025 tennis season. He sarcastically wrote that Sinner and Swiatek won’t be failing tests in 2025.

After ITIA released the statement, Iga Swiatek in a video on her social media explained that she had never heard about the banned substance and had to deal with a great deal of anxiety and stress after learning that she failed the tests. Nick Kyrgios took another dig at the 23-year-old in a post on X for her explanation to the ITIA, accusing her of making an excuse.

Swiatek was provisionally suspended, and during that time she missed three tournaments on the Asian swing. She will be back on December 4.
