At the start of 2025, San Francisco 49ers star Trent Williams shared an emotional announcement about his personal life. On December 1, 2024, his wife, Sondra Williams, revealed on Instagram that their son, Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr., had passed away at 35 weeks of pregnancy.
Sondra wrote: “It is difficult to accept the hardest hello and goodbye I have ever experienced. On Sunday night, November 24, 2024, I welcomed the still body of my son, weighing 4lb 8oz and measuring 18.5 inches, at 11:38 PM.”
Earlier, Sondra had also shared that she was pregnant with twins but had lost one of the babies early in the pregnancy. Trenton Jr. was diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder associated with high rates of miscarriage and infant mortality.
Trent Williams, 36, is one of the NFL’s top offensive linemen, with 11 Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro honors. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and quickly became a crucial part of the team.
This heartbreaking loss has deeply affected not only the Williams family but also the entire 49ers community. Just two months earlier, in October 2024, Williams’ teammate Charvarius Ward also experienced the tragic loss of his one-year-old daughter.
During this difficult time, the NFL community and fans have extended their condolences and support to the Williams family, demonstrating a strong sense of unity and compassion.
