Roger Goodell finally speaks out on shocking allegations: Did NFL referees really cheat and fix games to help the Kansas City Chiefs?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has addressed the conspiracy theory that the officials have been cheating and rigging games for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Roger Goodell took a series of questions from reporters to start off Super Bowl week in New Orleans, Louisiana. With the Chiefs set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, the commissioner was asked about the rapidly growing conspiracy theory that the NFL refs are out to help the Chiefs win games.

Per Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star, Goodell called the theory “ridiculous”, even comparing it the one that he puts out a script for the entire NFL season.

“It reminds of the script, that I write a script for the entire season.” Goodell said. “It’s a ridiculous theory, for anyone who might take it seriously.”

The Chiefs have benefited from a long list of questionable, game-changing calls throughout the 2024 season. This included questionable unnecessary roughness and roughing the passer penalties against the Houston Texans on Mahomes in the Divisional Round.

Additionally, there was a questionable ruling that Josh Allen’s 4th-and-inches QB sneak in the fourth quarter (with the Buffalo Bills up one point) of the AFC Championship Game was short of the marker.

Roger Goodell and the league office have had to deal with accusations that the refs are fixing games for the Chiefs. That’s not going to change as long as Kansas City is still on the right side of most controversial calls, and as long as the NFL continues to do nothing in fixing its officiating or replay review system.
